Thinking back of our stay in the Greenhost Boutique Hotel, I still remember the cozy, yet dynamic and creative atmosphere. I felt home away from home. So if you appreciate an eco-friendly way of thinking and a keen eye for individual design, than this is your place to stay in Yogya!
Greenhost Boutique Hotel creates a green oasis in the middle of Yogya
The Greenhost Boutique Hotel is a green lagoon and well known for its eco-friendly attitude. Built in 2014 and located in a charming quarter of Yogya the hotel offers a neat hideaway from the busy city life. Entering the main floor you will notice the special atmosphere the hotel creates. It’s an arty place with an extra dose of positive energy. A place where you want to rest and relax. The open ceiling, the turquoise water of the pool and the creative interior form a perfect yet casual ensemble. The adjacent restaurant with its open kitchen serves selected dishes for dinner and offers a diversified buffet of Western and Indonesian cuisine for breakfast. Fresh, healthy and so yummy. So if you haven’t make the choice in advance, I can recommend you to add a breakfast to your booking.
Environmentally friendly – the hotel harvest its home made greens
With the idea of using alternative energy such as solar system or the wing energy, the hotel is able to create its own energy in order to produce a low level of emission. Also the hotel uses homegrown herbs and salads for their meals, that they grow on the rooftop by hydroponic gardening. You will love the intensive smell of fresh mint that surrounds you immediately, when you step out of the elevator.
You can choose your favorite room to make the most out of your stay. Choose between six kind of modern and individually designed rooms with all natural and recyclable materials. The soap and shower gel they provide are all natural products. We stayed two nights in STUDIO KITA 1. The room was clean, friendly decorated and free water and tea was a plus. We payed 30 Euro per night and really enjoyed our stay. You can probably spend less for an accommodation, but it’s totally worth the price. Compared to Europe this is still a bargain for what you get offered. We would have loved to spend more time there, but I had this romantic idea of celebrating my 24th birthday on Bali „The Island of God“.

Sightseeing Guide for Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta is located right in the center of Java and popular amongst students and young travelers. It’s a lively city with old traditions. The shopping area along Malioboro Street and its famous street food markets during night times are well known for touristy souvenirs and culinary experiments. The main sight remains the Sultan’s Palace built in the 18th century. If you decide to stay for more than a couple of days, than trips around Yogya will be a great option to enjoy marvelous nature.
I can recommend to visit the bird market, to see some exotic animals. It’s an interesting and sad place at the same time. The Taman Sari water castle was one of my favorite sights in Yogya. It hides an underground mosque for over thousands of centuries. Also make sure to try Milas probably the best vegetarian restaurant in Indonesia. Luckily it’s just around the corner of the Greenhost Boutique Hotel. Locals and foreigners love this place. The food is delicious and super cheap. Come early or make a reservation it can be quite crowded on weekends. We needed to wait for half an hour, but passed the time easily by playing chess and sipping fresh smoothies.
