Göteborg is an enchanting city. The second biggest city of Sweden is way smaller than its capital Stockholm, but at least as charming and beautiful. With its young and dynamic atmosphere, the city creates its very own lifestyle at the western coastline. Välkommen in Göteborg!
Göteborg has been the last stop of our two-week journey through Sweden’s countryside. The tiny town enchants me with its individual stores, historical buildings, creative flair and attention for elaborate details. I will come back for another visit, that is absolutely certain. Here comes a guide for your perfect day in Göteborg.
Spend some time in the old part of Göteborg “Haga”.
On the outskirts of the historical quarter called Haga, you will find the Petit Café, which is a popular venue for Swede. The café is lovely furnished with a keen eye for details and mixed wooden interior. So wether its for breakfast, lunch or tea and biscuits, here you can find everything you have ever dreamt of. In the morning the small café offers a great breakfast buffet, with everything you need for a delicious start in the day. In the afternoon you’ll find a variety of home baked cakes and tartes, that tastes as good as made by grandma. The apple cake with warm vanilla sauce is absolutely worth trying.

Stroll through Haga the historical part of the city and enjoy all the special stores, cafés and restaurants. Walking through the tiny alley you will usually pop into the shop named Haga Trätoffelfabrik, which offers selfmade Clogs in best quality. Get yourself a pair for the ultimate Sweden-Feeling. Located just across the street is the restaurant Hemma Hos, where you can taste the world best Kötbullar – I honestly do not exaggerate. Try this place for a traditional Swedish dish.

During the afternoon its worth walking downtown to discover some more shops, such as Grandpa or Artillerie Interior. Both shops lay around a small square, that turns into a delightful food market by noon. This place is great for a quick lunch break as well as to meet new people. If you need to get out of the city or explore something more cultural, visit the Göteborg Museum of Art or the Rhösska Museum for Swedish fashion, design and decoration inspirations. Or enjoy some time at Slottskogen in the southern part of Göteborg. The park is a great get-away from the city and beautiful in summer time. Just lay in the grass and get yourself another soft-ice.

During night time you also have some pretty good options to enjoy a variety of beer at Andra Långgatan as well as Första Långgatan, which are located at the quarter of Matshugget. You will find some of the most popular pubs and restaurants. The streets are crowed by young stylish people.
